Public Health

Even when health challenges do not lead to death, they significantly affect everyday life, education, and long-term wellbeing. It is estimated that children in Africa miss an average of 20 school days each year due to illness and health-related challenges—approximately 11% of the total teaching days. When children are frequently absent from school because of poor health, their ability to learn, develop, and achieve their full potential is greatly limited.

Public Health

At Jangwen Foundation, our health program focuses on improving adolescent and maternal health outcomes, particularly for vulnerable girls and young women in underserved communities. We work to ensure that children, adolescents, and mothers have access to accurate health information and essential health services, enabling them to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

Our initiatives prioritize sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV prevention, NCD Prevention, maternal health, and adolescent health education, with a strong focus on empowering girls and young women. Through community outreach, peer to peer education, school-based programs, and partnerships with local health facilities, we provide health education, promote preventive health practices, and link communities to youth-friendly and maternal health services.

Clean and Safe Water

Access to clean and safe water is crucial for the well-being of individuals in impoverished communities. We work to establish sustainable water solutions, such as wells, boreholes, and water purification systems, to ensure that children and women have access to clean drinking water. Additionally, we promote hygiene practices, such as hand washing, to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases. By addressing the water needs of these communities, we aim to improve health outcomes and create a more sustainable living environment.
